Shunila Ruth is a Pakistani politician who has been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan since August 2018. Previously she was a Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, from May 2013 to May 2018. She graduated from Kinnaird College for Women University in 1973. She received the degree of Master in English  Literature in 1976 from Forman Christian College. She was elected to the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab as a candidate of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on reserved seat for minorities in 2013 Pakistani general election.

She joined PTI in 2009 inspired by the ideology and commitment, honesty and perseverance of the Chairman Imran Khan. She was convinced that this is the only party of change and hope for minority living in Pakistan. Since she joined, she worked hard for the party in various capacities. She was elected as President Minority Wing Punjab in the Intra-party election held in 2013. She traveled across 30 districts of Punjab and organized minority district bodies.

She coordinated and organized minority conventions in various districts in South, West and Central Punjab. In 2011 a massive worker convention was organized in Green Town, Lahore which was attended by head of religious minority communities and Chairman PTI was the Chief Guest.

From time to time She have been visiting KP, Baluchistan and Sindh motivating Christian community and other religious minorities. She also stood with Christian on behalf of PTI in Peshawar Church blast and Quetta Church blast.

She actively took part in all protest, Jalsas and 126 day Dharna, Islamabad knockdown.  She worked as minority coordinator in by-election of Ch. Mansha Sindhu, Abdul Aleem Khan and Dr. Yasmin Rashid. Also actively took part in the by-election held in Wazirabad, Khushab, Mianwali and Faisalabad.

She spearhead the committee to drafted and submitted the minority manifesto to the party to be included in the party manifesto.
As MPA She fully participated in the legislation, business of the assembly be it, question hour, zero hour, call attention notice, point of order, adjournment motion. Actively participated in pre and post annual budget discussion.

She submitted the following bills in the Punjab Assembly;

  1. Amendment in Punjab Christian Divorce Act. 
  2. Punjab Minority Protection Bill, 
  3. Punjab compulsory education for non-muslim students, 
  4. Punjab Forced conversion and forced marriage bill.

Her efforts forced Punjab Assembly to form Minority Standing Committee.

Acknowledging her tireless commitment & service for the party, she has been elected as MNA in general election 2018.  In February 2020 She was appointed as Federal Parliamentary Secretary for Ministry of Religious Affairs &  Interfaith Harmony for the matters relating to minorities.  She is member of :-

  1. Standing committee on Human Rights 
  2. Standing Committee on Law & Justice
  3. Standing Committee on Religious Affairs & Interfaith Harmony
